OpenVPN for Linux/Debian

Follow this step-by-step guide on how to connect to the ultra secure vpn service of ColanderVPN. Setup OpenVPN on your Linux/Debian and start protecting your online privacy.

1 : Install Openvpn

Open the terminal and login as root and run the following command:
# apt-get install openvpn

2 : Download configuration file

Run following command to download configuration for openvpn
# wget https://www.colander.pro/config/ca.vpn.colander.ovpn -O /etc/openvpn/ca.vpn.colander.ovpn

3 : Run openvpn

Now run openvpn as run:
# openvpn /etc/openvpn/ca.vpn.colander.ovpn Enter your credentials and you should now be successfully connected.

4 : Change your nameserver (Optional)

Incase any domain / websites not responding for you. This might be a problem with the nameserver.
# vim /etc/resolv.conf


Helper

If you have successfully connected but still have a problem with access to the resource, you can also try to change your DNS addresses.

  • Preferred address — 8.8.8.8
  • Alternate address — 8.8.4.4
